BCL were previously working on this project for the original Main Contractor who entered administration. Willmott Dixon were then appointed by Torbay Council and engaged with BCL to continue the works through to completion of the project.

The project involved working on the hillside set back just off of Torquay Marina and involved a large cut and fill as well as working across multiple changes of level. Foundations and drainage were installed including large attenuation systems at the rear of the hotel to carry the RC Frame and works had to be undertaken to the existing multi storey car park on site.

 

BCL were also tasked with liaising with the necessary authorities to make deep drainage connections in the highway outside of an adjacent existing hotel. BCL managed this process in house as we do with all licensing and authorities.

 

The project was a success for BCL as it was delivered safely, on time and to budget despite the challenges involved with a change in Main Contractor and delivery over a prolonged timeframe.
