Project Award: Kingsmead Academy, Wiveliscombe
Great news the team at BCL have received the Bouygues UK ‘Top Performer’ #supplychain award for the recently completed Kingsmead Academy DfE project.
The team were commended for a collaborative approach, open communication and programme input for a successful handover of this multi-phased DfE school project. It is really appreciated when a client takes time to recognise the teams input into a project, allowing us all to celebrate a successful delivery.
As much as this is a celebration of our performance, it is also important to recognise the Bouygues UK team who integrated us into the overall project team, identifying project goals and setting the collaborative culture that led to a successful outcome. Trust, along with a willingness to help each other were key and we were pleased to be involved in such a rewarding scheme.
Well done to all involved and thanks to John Boughton, Ian Farrell, Ben Bowyer MRICS, Brian Morris, Paul Marlow and Siân Davies for taking the time to recognise our contribution.

Project Update: City Gateway, Bristol
Works continue at pace for City Gateway in Bristol since our start as principal contractor on this prestigious scheme for Vistry Partnerships at the site adjacent to Cumberland Basin in Bristol.
We have been coming out of the ground with the RC Frames in readiness for bricklayers to commence and are continuing to push forward with the construction of nine apartment blocks (220 units and commercial/retail space). We are certainly keeping Heidelberg Materials, Sika and Ischebeck TITAN Group of Companies busy with concrete, waterproofing and formwork supply as well as our friends at B&A Group on the muck-away. Infrastructure (S278 and S38) works will commence shortly including the link to the Bristol Western Harbour Development.

Women in Construction Week
As we celebrate Women in Construction Week at BCL we turn the spotlight on our Finance Manager Kelly Walby who joined the team last year, since joining BCL Kelly has been a fantastic addition to the team.
Recently completing her Accountancy qualifications at Yeovil College on day release whilst also getting used to her new role with BCL was no easy challenge. In an industry that needs more female influence and perspective, we have been glad to see Kelly thrive at BCL and also get her boots dirty by visiting our sites. This has enabled Kelly to offer her views from both an office and site perspective and Kelly sits on our HSEQ working group that meets regularly to drive continuous improvement across the BCL group.

Project Completion: Harbour View Hotel, Torquay
The team have been hard at work reaching completion on the new 120 Bed Premier Inn Hotel on the sea front in Torquay for Willmott Dixon.
Aptly named Harbour View Hotel this has been a challenging project involving; working on a hillside within a tight footprint, groundworks and RC / precast retaining wall works, deep sewer connections onto existing South West Water infrastructure, restricted head height works in an existing car park and not to mention the smell of fish and chips!
All works have been carried out in-house and the BCL team enjoyed working with Willmott Dixon again this time in Devon. Thanks to all involved and our suppliers for their support, it is always appreciated.

Project Update: Imperial Park, Bristol
Seventy units made up of 40 houses and 30 apartments (across 2 blocks) including adoptable drainage and infrastructure. BCL was entrusted by repeat client Vistry Group to undertake the full groundworks package at Imperial Park off Hartcliffe Way in Bristol.
The main highways and drainage infrastructure has been completed and we are now pushing forward with the services, piling & foundations.
We have been undertaking a principal contractor role on this project and look forward to seeing this sustainable development come to life.
Thank you to our client, the BCL team and supply chain for their efforts to date on this project as we push on to the next stages.
