After the successful delivery of Torbay Hospital for Kier, BCL were asked to review the works at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

Following a collaborative review of Kier's tight and critical programme durations, BCL found a way of delivering the groundworks package (up to slab level) within an 18 week timescale so that the RC Frame could commence on time. The ability to deliver to this timeframe secured BCL the project and although this was a very challenging programme BCL delivered on time, even whilst managing large amounts of design change along the way. To aid the delivery within a quick period we opted to fabricate the reinforcement cages off site and bring them to site in a 'just in time' fashion which sped up the foundation timescales.

The package of works BCL were tasked with including removing contaminated material from site, installing 2 tower crane bases, cast iron drainage, pile caps and foundations, RC slab and all external works. We were also asked to undertake the RC Works to the energy centre which homes the power supplies to feed the new surgical wards.

Kier's team were very happy for the delivery on time and in a safe manner and provided BCL with numerous awards throughout the period of work on site. In addition, a celebration hog roast was put on by Kier along with thank you gifts for the BCL team.
