BCL were awarded the package to construct a concrete revetment along Cuts Road in Somerset all part of the wider Curry Moor Flood alleviation scheme designed to protect local communities from risk of flooding.

The revetment involved matching and extending the existing revetment that has been in place for many years. To ensure a match was achieved the same imprint mould had to be obtained and trial panel undertaken off site to ensure consistency of design. We are very pleased with the outcome and so were Kier and their client the Environment Agency.

The project had many challenges as we had to deal with working next to an existing water course, service crossings, overhead power lines and traffic management. The footprint of the site was also very tight meaning logistics had to be carefully planned and managed on an hourly basis.

Overall working closely with our client Kier we completed the project with a very pleased client. Local residents were also pleased to see the work being undertaken and completed as it provides added flood protection to their homes.

Following on from this project we have secured further works with the Kier team at Bridgwater Tidal Barrier.
